Indonesian Players Between East Asian Teams Win Cricket in Australia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Two female players of the Indonesian cricket national team, Nanda Sakarini and Tori Putri Suwandewi, have successfully helped the EAP (East Asia-Pacific) International Cricket Council Team (East Asia-Pacific) win the 2020 Toyota Australia Country Cricket Championship (TACCC) in Toowoomba, Australia .

The achievements of the two Indonesian players, based on official information from the Central Executive for the Indonesian Cricket Association (PP PCI) in Jakarta, Sunday, show that Indonesian players have quality and are worthy of competing with international players.

“PP PCI is proud of the success of Nanda and Tori Putri who were able to show their quality,” said General Chairman of PP PCI Aziz Syamsuddin.

The man who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament hopes that the two of them can add to their competing experience in an effort to raise the achievements of the Indonesian cricket national team in the future. Moreover, the challenges ahead are much tougher.

“Our women’s national team players continue to show progress by participating in playing at the international level, both national and non-national teams. And, we hope they can boost the ranking of the Indonesian national team even better in the world, “added Aziz.

In the final match which was held in Toowoomba, Australia, Saturday (11/1), ICC EAP, which was strengthened by two Indonesian players, beat South Australia by a narrow score of 73/6 – 72/7. This is the best result of ICC EAP Women in the history of participating in the tournament for several years.

The ICC EAP team who defeated Queensland with a score of 121/5 – 114/8 in the ICC EAP finished above the points table in group format. They recorded 5 wins from 7 matches including wins over West Australia, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.

Nanda Sakarini contributed a total of 78 runs in 6 matches during the tournament. Meanwhile, Tori Putri Suwandewi (2 wickets) also plays an important role in various competitions.
